WACO, Texas - The Langston Lady Lions opened up their regular season at NCAA DI opponent Baylor University. The No. 2 ranked team in NCAA DI showed their dominance from the opening tip as they held off Langston 121-32 on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Ferrell Center.
Inside the Lion's Den …
The Baylor Bears jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Bears led the Lions 35-5 at the end of the first quarter.
Langston fared better in the second quarter but still trailed the Bears 61-17 at halftime. The Lady Lions were outscored 32-5 and 28-10 in the third and fourth quarters respectively in the 121-32 exhibition defeat.

The Lady Lions were held to 20 percent (11-of-54) from the field and converted seven of 10 free throw attempts. Baylor connected on 63 percent (54-of-85) but shot only four-of-16 from three-point range.
Langston showcased an entire new lineup this season as only two athletes return from last season's NAIA tournament team in Che'Ron Lewis and Calynne Brox. Lewis finished two-for-11 with five rebounds in 35 minutes of play.
Akia Frett led the Lady Lions in scoring with 11 points on three-of-14 shooting; Ri'Kell McWright was second on team with nine points.
Langston (0-0) hosts their first home game of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse.
