SAN ANTONIO, Texas – No. 1 Our Lady of the Lake lived up to their billing on Saturday, Feb. 20 as they held off the No. 19 Langston Lady Lions 92-38.
The Lady Lions started slow offensively which allowed OLLU to build a 25-9 first-quarter lead; the struggles continued into the second quarter as the Lady Saints held a 51-14 halftime advantage.
With the defeat Langston moves to 11-4 in the conference standings and in a tie with Huston-Tillotson for third-place; LSU-Shreveport leapfrogged the Lady Lions into second-place following a weekend sweep of Texas College and St. Thomas.
Collectively, Langston shot 31 percent from the field (15-of-47) and tied their season-high in turnovers with 30. OLLU finished the day at 43 percent (39-of-90) and were led in scoring by Whitney Sandmann's 12 points.
Langston (17-6, 11-4) squares off against the University of the Southwest on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
